Is the BigPurplePhone approved for Support At Home?
Yes! And after 1 July 2025, it is much simpler! Newly assessed MyAgedCare participants needing home care will enter the "Support at Home" Program. This new system will replace Home Care Packages over time.
The new program has a definitive list of Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (called AT-HM). " Adaptive or special feature mobile phones" are on this list. Participants who are assessed as needing assistance with communication will be assigned one of three levels of funding Low - $500, Medium - $2000 or High $15K. This can be spent on items on the list, and if they are assessed as needing it. Some things to note:

- The participant will need to get a referral or prescription for their phone. This means a letter from their Dr, Nurse, OT, Physiotherapist or other allied health professional. This is given to their Care Manager who will organise the purchase of the phone.
