Essentially, you are right: mobile phones such as iPhones are 'excluded', but where they are needed to deliver an 'included' service, then they are an 'exemption'.
 
BigPurplePhone is not a regular mobile phone, it is GEAT (Goods and Assistive Technology) - limited in it use and is used for communication for those with cognitive, visual, dexterity and age-related decline, medication management, and for SOS alerts.
 
BigPurplePhone is listed as Assistive Technology on the National Equipment Database and is approved by Indigo Solutions for the Geat2Go goods and assistive technology website for the Federal Government of Australia.
 
If your client is assessed as needing assistance, then it is at the discretion of your HCP Package Manager to access HCP funds to purchase a BigPurplePhone and accessories. The monthly SIM costs are not covered.
 
BigPurplePhone provides support to those with cognitive, visual and motor decline to assist with communication, SOS and medication reminder feature.
